  • 2003 - training for ARA Multilane Umpire endorsement
  • May 2003 - visited Ray Sims in Nottingham to see Weybridge RC's new pair and four being made
  • Won Veteran Novice 1x at Ross Veteran and Junior Regatta 2000
  • Took part in the Ancholme RC "Scrumpy Row"
  • Successfully completed the Concept II Instructor Course
  • 2000 - Qualified as an ARA Umpire
  • 10 November 2000 - the rivers Thames and Wey reach dangerous levels (photos)
  • Trivia - Weybridge RC's clubhouse is almost at the most southerly point of the River Thames.

  • 1999 - Trainee ARA umpire.
  • First ever sculling win - Veteran Novice 1x at Weybridge Silver Sculls (1999)
  • First "International" race (Mixed 2x at FISA Masters, Seville 1999) - 4th out of 6
  • Highest finish in the Head of the River Race (114th 1998)
  • Racing at Henley Royal Regatta in Thames Cup (1998)

  • Won Elite 8 at the Lincoln to Boston Marathon (1994) (2nd overall)
  • Racing at Henley Royal Regatta in the Britannia (4+ 1994), Wyfold (4- 1995) and Thames Cups (8o 1996)

  • First win in 4- (Marlow Spring, 1991)
  • First attempt to qualify for Henley Royal Regatta (Thames Cup, 1990)
  • Member of 1,000,000 metre ergo World Record beating team - fastest 1,000,000 metres and longest continuous row (for teams)
  • First Boston (Rowing) Marathon (4+)

  • First win at external regatta (Novice 8o, Reading Amateur Regatta 1984)
  • Won blades for making five bumps in Torpids 1983
1978 - 1982 : Tonbridge School BC (my unofficial page)
  • Started rowing and sculling on one of the narrowest and twistiest rivers I have seen! It was either that or cricket. And competing for places in the school cricket team just wasn't on - not with at least three future England cricketers at school at the time!
  • Sadly, I now hear that the School has decided to wind up the boat club. Keith Osborne (editor of the British Rowing Almanack, and fellow Old Tonbridgian) has compiled a history of the club - "A Century of Rowing 1891-2000".
